Gallinula chloropus

Common Moorhen  / Rörhöna / Grønbenet rørhøne

Feet of a Common Coot

Common Moorhen ( Gallinula chloropus ) is as frequently seen a bird in Denmarks many small lakes and ponds as it is in most of this world. From the Canaries to Spitsbergen, from Asia to North America.
And I've wanted to make it for a some time.
Books say that the Common Moorhen is relatively easy to aproach when you meet it in cityparks or suburban green areas.
It's not al that true.
I tried it out several places before I had a bit of luck in the The Botanical Gardens in down town Copenhagen, on the sunny afternoon of Saturday February 10. 2001.
