Barnacle Geese in the Wadden Sea area are out of a  North Russian population and  on these early April pictures, Wednesday April 4 2001, on their way north with expected arrival on the Novaya Zemlya and Vajgac islands late May.

There are 3 arctic populations of Barnacle Geese in the Western Palearctic area..

A Greenland population that winters in Scotland and Ireland. A Spitsbergen population that winters Scotland England and this third one, the North Russian Population, that spends wintertime in Netherlands and North Germany
